Home Music Words About Contact flexoffset Coulda Been Worse (2.8 mb) - Started with the ASQ4 (Martin Brinkmann) and just dialed in the main 'lead' pizzicato synth melody that drags on through the whole song with a couple of variations. The only thing I used apart from Reaktor was the Logic Stereo Delay for the first 4 bars. Next, I used a VintageKorg (can't remember who designed this) - FallingStar preset to kind of do a 'Frankie Goes To Hollywood' sort of waterfall sound to lead into the ramping up of the tune. Then, I used LimeLITE and slightly customized a beat. That's the kick - snare combo. Just after the LimeLITE (Jörg Müller) , I brought in ChaOsc (Martin Brinkmann) preset 28 and faded it in. As the ChaOsc gets to full volume, I feather in Kitten (Benjamin Suthers) - Octaver Preset. Now, a CL909 (Chris List) - All Too Funky preset just fit the bill. The high-pitched bleeps with delay are AmbientSus (Clapan Clapan). There's a little bit of a break, then the VintageKorg comes in again. Then a BTSDream (Anders Sevaldson) - BigBass2 slightly modded preset comes in to fill in the low end. Next, the distorted guitar sort of sound is BTSDream again. At the end of the distorted noise, I put in a LilThree (Tim Schwerdtfeger) rhythm to make it phat. Then at about 1:07 I fade in The Dansant (Laurent Veliscek) in and back out. Finally the instruments dissolve one after another. In order: LiLThree, CL909, LimeLITE, BTSDream bass line. I wrap it up with the intro being repeated, then the distorted noise fading into nothing. I used Logic Pro to compile all the audio clips, had some Waves Compressors and Limiters and EQ's on many of the tracks, and I strapped an L1 across the 2-buss so it would have some volume. The only time I used midi notes from a keyboard were when I was keying in the BTSDream bass line. All the rest was done with knobs in Reaktor. |
