Wherefore Reaktions.com? - 5/26/2004

Reaktions.com was born out of my desire to hear what kinds of music Reaktor users were creating with the bestiary of instruments in the NI premium library and the Reaktor user library.

For years, there has been a great deal of talk in the various Reaktor forums about instrument building: How can I do this, how do I fix this, is it possible to modify this to do that? And a great deal of sharing of new/modified instruments in the user library. But precious little sharing of Reaktor-generated music.

This struck (strikes) me as dangerous. Would the Reaktor community become a sonic laboratory with white-coated, ivory-towered researchers publishing their latest experiments in rareified realms of DSP theory? Or a musically vital group constantly putting theory to practice in the form of beautiful, moving, and groundbreaking Reaktor-generated compositions?

My hope is that Reaktions.com will nudge the Reaktor community toward the latter.
